Department of Plant Sciences:

Research Interests

I am a Senior Research Associate working in the Genetics and Epigenetics group at the Department of Plant Sciences of the University of Cambridge. My research focuses on the discovery of biomolecular mechanisms through the application of Bayesian statistics and machine learning approaches to large data, primarily those generated by next-generation sequencing.

At present, this work is primarily motivated by data describing small RNAs, cytosine methylation, mRNA expression and translation. I am particularly interested in the development of methods for identifying mechanisms of interaction and regulation between these and other epigenetic systems. I also have an interest in analysis of large data from an evolutionary biology perspective, particularly those associated with large-scale but small magnitude changes in behaviour.
