The Challenges for Long-Term Data Preservation and Use under the General Data Protection Regulation

last modified Feb 23, 2016 02:33 PM
Dr David Erdos, University of Cambridge

The recently agreed EU General Data Protection Regulation will put in place some of the strictest rules in the world on the collection, storage and dissemination and use of personal information.

At the same time, it also includes special provisions for research and archiving in the public interest, options for wider national restrictions and provisions to protect freedom of expression.  This presentation will take a first look at this new framework and what it may mean for the future of long-term preservation and use of personal information.
